1-Year Ph.D. Development Award
Dependent on continued funding, the Research and Graduate Studies Office offers assistantships to support new incoming Ph.D. students each academic year. Faculty are invited to nominate new doctoral students for this prestigious award. Funding will include a monthly stipend and tuition and fee payment for one year.
- The support is only for new, incoming master's thesis option or Ph.D. students.
- The support is only for those students with graduate faculty chairs on the Galveston Campus.
Eligibility
NEW! Faculty can submit as many applicants as desired for incoming awards and submit an applicant for multiple incoming awards. The Research Advisory Council (RAC) will determine recipients of all awards (i.e., 2-Year and 1-Year Award) at the same time. Faculty submitting multiple nominees are required to rank them.
The faculty advisor must provide clear evidence of support for the student’s research and be a Galveston faculty member (adloc-ed to a Galveston-based department). Faculty should submit a nomination letter to gradstudies@tamug.edu. Only one nomination letter is needed to nominate an applicant to the incoming award applicant pool. Nominations for incoming Fall 2023 students are due by 5:00 p.m. CST on Monday, March 6, 2023.
