Texas A&M University at Galveston's first priority is the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff, while supporting continued education and training in response to the Coronavirus, or COVID-19. This situation is fluid and evolving rapidly. For the most up-to-date information, please monitor official information channels for updates and impacts to the Galveston Campus: https://www.tamug.edu/covid-19/.
The Sea Life Facility is open to the public Mondays through Fridays 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. We are located on the south side of the Ocean and Coastal Studies Building #3029 (OCSB). As you exit OCSB towards the Small Boat Basin, the Sea Life Facility Outreach Center entrance (OCSB 151) will be on the left.
Our Outreach Center has a viewing window into the main tank room and educational displays about research projects, Galveston Bay, and marine organisms that call the Gulf of Mexico home. Staff members, when available, will provide a short informal talk (~10 - 15 mins) about the facility and husbandry of marine organisms.
Behind the scenes tours are available but must be made in advance and require approval from the SLF Manager. These tours are guided by SLF staff members and allow visitors an opportunity to get up close to our research projects and the equipment used to maintain our systems. Tour groups are limited to 10 - 15 visitors at a time but larger groups may be split up. Requests for tours may be e-mailed to sealifefacility@tamug.edu and are subject to staff availability.
Paid visitor parking is located a short distance from the Sea Life Facility in the Sea Aggie Center Lot (ZONE 7733). More information about paid visitor parking, including Parkmobile Pay Station Parking Rates and a paid visitor parking map, can be found here.
