Sea Camp & COVID-19
Nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) continue to be effective and important tools in the prevention and mitigation of COVID-19 in the summer camp setting. Diligent, multilayered use of these interventions, both with and without vaccination, has been shown to safely allow camps and schools to operate. Masking, distancing, ventilation, hygiene, disinfection, testing, and cohorting will continue at Sea Camp to varying degrees, implementation and circumstances.
The state of the pandemic both nationally and locally continues to be fluid and cyclic in its nature. Sea Camp is prepared to operate with contingency plans that reflect the uncertainty of where COVID-19 rates are in the summer of 2022. We ask that campers and parents be understanding and flexible should changes need to occur.
Testing continues to play an important role in surveillance and early detection of COVID-19 and Sea Camp plans to provide for testing (as needed) in summer 2023.
- Prior to arrival at camp, please monitor symptoms for COVID-19.
- Vaccinations and/or face coverings are NOT REQUIRED, however are highly encouraged for staff, students, campers, and visitors on Texas A&M University campuses.
- Although we do not require face coverings on campus, field trips to private organizations may have their own restrictions. We recommend all campers bring facial coverings to Sea Camp.
- If a participant shows two or more symptoms as outlined in the CDC's COVID-19 symptoms for youth, they must be sent home or tested for COVID-19. COVID-19 rapid antigen tests are available and administered to staff and campers who volunteer to participate.
Please know that an inherent risk of exposure to contagious illnesses including flu, strep and COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. Parents should use their best judgment regarding sending their child to camp and seek to protect any vulnerable persons who are members of the same household or come into frequent, close contact with infants, children and youth who attend camps.
Thank you for helping us keep Sea Camp safe!
