William Paul Ricker Faculty/Staff Award
Criteria
In memory of his son, the late William Paul Ricker, who died in an automobile accident while serving as Corps Commander at Texas A&M University at Galveston in 1974, Mr. R. Paul Ricker left provisions in his will for the establishment of the William Paul Ricker Memorial Endowment Fund. Each year, $4,000 from the endowment is used to recognize one outstanding faculty and one outstanding staff member ($2,000 each).
The criteria for these awards are:
This award will be based primarily upon outstanding achievement in teaching, research and student relations as far as faculty are concerned, and appropriate matching achievements in all but classroom activities as far as the non-teaching staff are concerned. Naturally, in the case of the latter, administration will be a significant portion of the award selection, inasmuch as staff assignments are more limited in terms of research, classroom and student interaction. General character of the individuals will also be a fact of consideration.
